Welcome to my blog

Assalamualaikum and hi to all.
First of all I would like to welcome you to my blog. Actually, this is an educational blog for Digital and Mobile Communication subject where I have to choose a topic regarding Environmental issues. And I chose issues about Resource Depletion. This is because I want people to become aware about this problem. I hope you guys enjoy reading my blog and at the same time you got some information about this issue.
 Thank you for reading.

Objective of the Blog

Here are the objectives of the blog.

This blog is written to:
  1. Tell the readers about the definition of resource depletion, and how it happens.
  2. Explain to the readers about the resources that are becoming less such as logging, fishing and also mining.
  3. Tell the causes and also the negative effects of the issues.
  4. Tell what are the solutions to overcome this problem.

What is Mining?

Mining is the extraction of valuable minerals or geological materials from the earth, which forms the mineralized package of economic interest to the miner. Basically, mining is the foundation of industrial civilization. It is the process of extracting minerals like gold, silver, copper, nickel and uranium (metallic) and salt, potash, coal and oil (nonmetallic) formations that concentrate naturally in the earth. In fact, other than agriculture product, raw materials also come from mining.

How it can affect the environment?

Mining can give negative effect to environment such as deforestation, water pollution and also land and river dredging. As usual, before they start mining activity they have to clear the site. This mean, they have to cut the trees. It leads to deforestation.

Deforestation reduces habitable areas for wildlife animals.

Chemicals are used to amalgamate extractions. Unfortunately, these chemicals include the likes of mercury and cyanide, which have harmful effects on human health when accidentally consumed. It happen when they accidentally pass through pipes from the mines is discharged into surrounding natural bodies of water.

Water pollution

Land dredging occurs when large holes are dug out and filled with contaminated water from mine tailing. They become a breeding nest for mosquitoes and other disease-carrying insects, which could then lead to the spread of diseases like dengue fever.

Improper disposal of these elements lead to water pollution as well

Overfishing

What is over-fishing?

Basically overfishing is where fish stocks are depleted. This is because every day, billions of people around the world rely on fish as a direct source of nutrition. This can cause to resource depletion.

The ecosystem of over-fishing

This will happen when the fish stocks are depleted to unacceptable level irrespective of the water body size. This mean people are catching too many fish and the fish itself cannot sustain their population where they are caught at a rate faster than they can reproduce. Right now, our earth faced with the collapse of large fish populations.
